New 2024 Hyundai Sonata and Elantra Revealed!

Hyundai today launched the enhanced 2024 Sonata and Elantra during a YouTube news conference. Simon Loasby, influential designer and head of the Hyundai Style Group at Hyundai Motor Company, walked viewers through the design upgrades. José Muñoz, president and Global COO of Hyundai Motor Company and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, discussed why consumers are showing renewed interest in sedans.

Sonata will now be available in All-Wheel-Drive – perfect for Midwest Winters.

Hyundai’s proven Hyundai TRACtion (HTRAC) AWD system is now available on Sonata for the first time. HTRAC is mated to the 2.5L engine to provide all-weather capabilities and enhanced driving performance by actively distributing torque between the front and rear wheels, depending on road conditions and driving situations. Sonata will once again be available as a standard internal combustion engine (ICE) model, sporty N Line variant, or hybrid electric (HEV) version, with a range of engine options.

“We wanted to give Sonata a more contemporary design statement,” said Loasby. “It is super wide, fresh, modern, and very cool. Its low-slung design embodies our theme of Sensuous Sportiness, and its coupe-like styling makes this the most aerodynamic Sonata design ever. A true sports family sedan.”

“The 2024 Elantra is proof of Hyundai’s commitment to design-forward vehicles with innovative technology,” said Muñoz. “The car market has stabilized, and Hyundai remains committed to sedans as a part of our lineup at a time when some manufacturers have abandoned the segment. Our car mix is higher than the industry.”

“Our development direction was to refine the Elantra outside and inside,” said Loasby. “We’ve added customer-friendly features and created a more unique, purposeful, and playful character. We have emphasized Elantra’s bold, dynamic exterior design achieving what we call Parametric Dynamics, conveying new emotions to customers through geometrically separated beauty. Elantra has a new shark-nosed character that gives the car an aggressive, wider stance.”
